The World Avocado Organisation invites families to enjoy a nutritious green twist this Easter with creative dishes, sustainable crafts, and family-friendly recipes.

London, April 2026 - Chocolate eggs may dominate Easter across the country, but this year, families are being encouraged to add a healthier green twist to the celebration with avocados. According to the World Avocado Organisation (WAO), the versatile and delicious fruit can bring both nutrition and creativity to Easter menus, offering a fresh balance to the traditional seasonal sugar rush. Additionally, avocados offer steady energy for kids and parents who want to make the most of their extra free time through family activities, sports, and outdoor fun.

Naturally rich in fibre, good fats and essential vitamins and minerals, avocados can be used in everything from Easter dishes, after-play snacks and creamy dips to healthy desserts.  

Their good fats can provide long-lasting energy to keep kids going through busy school days and active play, while potassium supports normal muscle function and can help prevent cramps after sport. Antioxidants such as vitamins C and E also help reduce tiredness after games, training or long walks.

In fact, one avocado contains around 14g of fibre, nearly half of the daily recommended intake for most UK adults, which can help to support healthy digestion for all in the family to feel satisfied for longer.

With health and sustainability increasingly shaping how people celebrate seasonal moments, avocados are emerging as a simple way to add both flavour and nutritional value to Easter meals during school holidays packed with play, sport and time together.

Let the “Avo-venture” begin

WAO  is inviting families to turn their celebrations into an “Avo-venture”, introducing the fruit across the Easter menu. But the fun doesn’t stop at the table. Avocados can also inspire sustainable Easter activities for children.

Hop into the fun with a quirky avocado spin on traditional holiday activities! Families and friends can enjoy a trio of playful games that bring a fresh, green and active twist to the festivities:

1. Avocado Egg Hunt

Forget traditional eggs, hide colourful avocados or avocado halves filled with treats around your home or garden. Paint them, wrap them in foil, or leave them natural for a fun scavenger hunt with a healthy surprise at every turn.

2. Avocado Spoon Race

Put your balance to the test in a classic egg-on-a-spoon race…but with an avocado! Players carefully carry an avocado (or avocado pit) across the finish line, dodging obstacles and laughter along the way. A perfect mix of activity and giggles for all ages.

Add a spark of green to your Easter Menu

To help with the festivities, the World Avocado Organisation (WAO) has shared a list of curated avocado recipes designed specifically for Easter,  making it simple to add a nutritious green twist to seasonal favourites.

From snack to main dishes to sweet treats, avocados might just become the egg-stra special ingredient on this year’s Easter table.

Choco Avocado Egg

Serving: 4 people

Ingredients

2 avocados

50 g coconut oil, melted

50 ml agave syrup

1 tbsp. maple syrup

1 tsp. vanilla essence

Zest and juice of ½ lime

±1 tbsp. cocoa powder, for dusting

60 g dark chocolate (70% or more cocoa)

To serve (optional): cress

Method

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit and peel off the skin, ensuring to keep it whole. Take the 4 empty avocado shells, fill them with water and freeze overnight.
  1. To make the mousse, blend all the ingredients except the cocoa powder and chocolate in a food processor until smooth. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
  1. Remove the frozen avocado shells from the freezer. Put them ice-side down, skin-side up, on a piece of parchment paper.
  1. Melt the chocolate using the bain-marie method, then carefully pour it over the 4 skins, using a spoon to make sure it coats them smoothly. The chocolate will harden quickly.
  1. Once the chocolate is firm, carefully separate the chocolate from the avocado shell and ice so you will be left with a beautiful chocolate shell.
  1. Trim any excess chocolate with a sharp knife and try to make the egg look like an actual avocado.
  1. Spoon the mousse into the chocolate shells. Make sure the surface of the mousse is completely smooth, so the desserts look like avocado halves. Use a piece of baking paper that is slightly bigger than the avocado and cut a perfect circle in it.  
  1. Centre that’s approximately the size of an avocado pit. Use this as a stencil to hold over the avocados and sieve cocoa powder onto the paper to draw a chocolate ‘pit’ on the surface of the mousse.
  1. Serve garnished with microgreens or other decorations.

Scallops in avocado sauce

Serving: 2 people

Ingredients

300 grams of shelled Scallops without the coral

1 avocado

3 limes  

4 radishes  

12 cherry tomatoes

½ red onion  

1 jalapeno chilli  

Extra virgin olive oil  

Salt

Cilantro or chives to decorate  

Equipment: Grater

Method

  1. Remove the avocado flesh and blend with the juice of three limes, a little zest, 1/2 a chilli, and salt.
  1. Add water until you have a light sauce.
  1. Slice the radishes, cherry tomatoes, and onion.
  1. Season the scallops and sear on a griddle with a few drops of oil, 1 minute per side.
  1. Serve on a bed of avocado sauce, garnished with radishes, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro or chives.

Ingredients

½ a large avocado or 1 small one

180g cooking chocolate

A pinch of salt

Grated coconut for coating

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate.

  1. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and skin, and mash.

  1. Mix both, then add a pinch of salt.

  1. Refrigerate for several hours until the mixture thickens.

  1. Take portions of the dough and shape into balls.

  1. Coat in grated/desiccated coconut.
